The following is a guide for a first time seller at an auction. ![]()
Firstly, the seller must complete and sign an entry form. This is the auctioneer's authority to offer the vehicle for sale and without it, the auctioneer may not accept the vehicle for sale at the auction.
In clear handwriting, complete the form, i.e. details of the car, your name, address and telephone number. The seller's declaration must be completed and signed, as this gives the auctioneer authority to sell the vehicle.
You must have a registration document to sell the vehicle.
All vehicles five years and older are sold as seen.
All vehicles eight years and older are sold without reserve.
An entry fee of £32.00 + VAT is payable each time a vehicle is offered for sale, 5% commission is payable on the sale price and the minimum commission charge is £50.00 + VAT. All relevant charges are deducted from the sale price, and are subject to VAT.
As mentioned in 'How to Buy', the entry form is essential as the auctioneer uses it to describe your car. The auctioneer has no other information available and so your description should be as accurate and comprehensive as possible.
When completing the mechanical warranty section, if warranty is offered you must fill in the relevant details.
